About Mary
Mary Fusillo, BSN, MS, is one of the nation’s leading experts on third-party reproduction. She was inspired to start her journey in the fertility world after she struggled with fertility while starting her own family in the late 1990s.
In 1999, she became Clinical Nursing Director of an Infertility clinic in Houston after working in Emergency Services and Trauma Education, and management for a decade. During her time in management in her first IVF clinic, she became the driving force behind the start of their Donor Egg Program, from recruiting the first donors to overseeing a pool of 120 donors by 2004.
Mary moved to Washington, D.C., and became the Clinical Infertility Nursing Director at one of the oldest and most prestigious infertility clinics in the United States. With over 300 cycles of donor eggs per year, managing donors and recipients while introducing new recruitment methods was a challenge, all while managing the fast-paced world of an IVF clinic and multiple doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff. As member of the Nurses Professional Group of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, she has been the recipient of a Prize Paper Award at the ASRM annual meeting, a Keynote Speaker on Egg Donation at the annual meeting of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) as well as a former National Board Member of RESOLVE, Inc.
Her volunteer work in the field of infertility led her to found “Donor Moms, a Network of Support for Mothers via Egg Donation” in 2003.
In 2007, Mary decided she needed a change. She founded The Donor Solution as a way to help people start their families in a patient-friendly, compassionate way while having a healthcare professional manage the process. She started her agency with 19 donors, and by 2009 had recruited 100s to meet the needs of prospective parents, while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for her egg donors.
In 2012, she recognized a growing need for people who needed both a donor egg and a surrogate. So she founded 3 Sisters Surrogacy! Since then, 20-40% of 3 Sisters Surrogacy journeys are with people who used a Donor Solutions egg donor. In 2020, she started The Fertility Consultants with the mission to assist intended parents in navigating the challenges of 3rd Party reproduction and finally merged all the companies under the FSI umbrella.
Mary recently earned a Master’s degree in the field of Bioethics. Across her decades spent in infertility and healthcare, she was constantly forced to reckon with moral and ethical issues as the fertility industry grew. Even now, a single embryo transfer is fraught with issues of people wanting twins. She decided to study bioethics because she wanted to understand the ethical aspects of the fertility field, and felt there needed to be an ethicist who had a very deep background in infertility.
Now, she has added services to The Fertility Consultants as a way to help more prospective parents on their journey to start their family. By adding educational materials, injection training, administration, and personal consulting, these new services are designed to complement your IVF clinic or physician.
